This is the only sword set in the Musha line. The black and red set are the same with the saya color being the only difference. The Tsuba (crossguard) for the katana and wakizashi are in the Kiki wheel style. All of the Koshire (sword mountings) are simple and unadorned except for the Menuki Dragun’s under the black cotton ito (wrapping). The Samegawa (ray skin under the wrapping) is faux ray skin, which is normal at this price point. The blades are sharp and well balanced. The katana and wakizashi both have Chinese kanji on the blades. The tanto doesn’t have this. The katana minus the kanji is sold by itself by Musha however they don’t sell the wakizashi or Tanto by themselves and this was the reason I purchased the set. The Tanto is very large for a Tanto. The blade is 11” which is right at the upper level for most Tanto. Musha uses the same fittings that they use on their swords for the Tanto. The Wakizashi was the big selling point for me. It’s really more of an O-Wakizashi or a Ko-Katana because it’s so big. The handle is 9.5 inches where most Wakizashi have handles that are less than 7 inches. The blade is large as well as most wakizashi have blades shorter than 20 inches and this one is over 21 inches. In my pictures I have a photo of this O-Wakizashi/Ko-Katana next to another Wakizashi to show scale. All in all this is a great set. It’s worth the price alone to get the wakizashi and tanto. My set came with a small crack in the tanto saya but the seller was wonderful and helped fix the situation. I can’t say enough about their service.
