I bought these not knowing too much about them. I have been desperately looking for aids to help my mum and myself, care for my 98 year old Nan, who lives with us.I’ve been bewildered by the lack of equipment for people in their twilight years, with most equipment stating it’s not to be used by people over a certain age, or unsteady on their feet.But what about those who are over 90 and still crave a little independence?When I ordered these, I thought they would be rubbish, but when my Nan used them for the first time that evening, we were overjoyed at seeing her being able to position herself in bed, and it helps us too (I have a chronic illness and my mum needs a hip op, so we struggle with the lifting of my Nan)These aids mean that my Nan can push herself up onto her bed, and although we still help lift her legs into bed, she can position herself into a comfy spot, and she thinks they are brilliant.We are still using trial and error for the best way to use them with getting out of bed, sometimes one is enough, or we change the positioning, but the important thing for me, is that my Nan likes them, can use them easily, and they don’t slip!We haven’t tried them on the chair yet, but I think they would also be really fab for her there too.Pros:- Gives independence back- Makes bedtime easier- Doesn’t slip- Great size- Sloping handle for comfort- Lightweight- Can take anywhere- Easy cleanCons- Harder to use if your arm isn’t fully extended if you don’t have much strength- CostWe always support my Nan even when she’s using these, as she is 98, but I wish I’d had these for myself, when my illness was at its worst, they are absolutely brilliant!
