My son received several Gigapets for his sixth birthday.The neat thing about Gigapets is the many ways they can play. After learning all about "the island" with the Gigapets "Explorer" (hooks to a TV), my son enjoys playing with the individual pets (eg, on long car trips) even more.My son accomplishes the necessary but small amount of reading in the Explorer game, and learns a few new words by himself while playing.There are positive lessons of friendship in the game, and there is no "shoot 'em up" or other violent aspect whatsoever.The music is better than most video games.The only drawback is that the batteries in the individual Gigapets are not rechargable. After six months, however, we have only needed to replace one battery.
