Designed specifically for cotton and extra fine luxury fibers. These hand carders are lightweight and easy to use. Suitable for Cotton, Cashmere, Angora and other super fine fibers. Very fine 190 PPSI wire teeth with flexible rubber back for long life. Lightweight, 17.5oz (495g) for the pair. Ergonomic handles for comfortable grip. Handcard have a slight curve to allow for easy carding. Made from unfinished Silver Beech hardwood in New Zealand, by Ashford Handicrafts. Hand carders are used in pairs to prepare fiber or blend fibers or colors in the traditional way. They produce small rolags ready for spinning. Specifications: Wood paddle measures: 10½" x 3½" (195mm x 90mm). Carding teeth zone measures: 9½" x 2½" (242mm x 62mm). Teeth are 190 points per square inch (PPSI). Tine height: 5/16" (8mm). I am using these for angora rabbit fiber and they have been lovely. I don’t like that you have to screw the handle to the board and there is no pre-drilled hole, nor instructions on how to line them up, but after fiddling with that aspect they are a nice set. You can stain them and seal them if you want or just leave them raw wood.
