I have a Finis Sculling Finger Paddle (which I think is no longer available). I like it because I can use it on all swim strokes and the smaller size is easier on my shoulder.Sun, chlorine, and time finally caused the original elastic tubing to break. The original elastic tubing is thinner compared to other swim paddles so finding a similar one was difficult. Since the finger paddle elastic tubing is similar to “surgical tubing” which is available at most hardware stores, I was able to find one with the same diameter. The only downside is that the “surgical tubing” is more elastic and so it’s more difficult to tighten down. This allowed my middle finger to sometimes pop out of the paddle strap while swimming.I decided to buy the TYR Silicone Hand Paddle Replacement Straps. Surprisingly, the cost was almost the same as the “surgical tubing” that I had purchased at my local ACE Hardware Store. When I opened the package, it was immediately obvious that the TYR replacement straps are much thicker than the original Finis Sculling Finger Paddle straps. I thought threading the TYR replacement straps was going to be a challenge since the Finis Sculling Finger Paddle straps holes are narrow. To my pleasant surprise, it took very little effort to thread the TYR straps.Given the thickness of the TYR replacement straps, they should be more durable and much less elastic than the “surgical tubing” or the original Finis paddle straps. There will be some excess in the length so you will have to trim it down. I would, however, leave about one inch to 1.5 inches as excess. This allows you to grab (with teeth or fingers) and cinch the TYR replacement straps tight. The excess paddle strap length is not noticeable when swimming.Overall, I’m very pleased. I would buy again.
